With the expansion of the PREIS Sevnica site in Slovenia, the PREIS Group is strengthening its position as a leading manufacturer of transformer housings in Europe and is responding specifically to rising demand in the energy sector.

Expansion of production capacity in Sevnica

The investment includes:

• the construction of new production halls
• the expansion of existing production areas
• the use of modern production and automation technologies

The aim is to nearly double production capacity while further increasing efficiency and quality.

These measures will enable PREIS to continue delivering complex energy infrastructure projects reliably and to the highest quality standards.

With this investment, GIPRO ensures that the continuously increasing requirements for quality, documentation, and process stability can be reliably met in the long term. In addition, the new control technology contributes to higher plant availability as well as more efficient monitoring and optimisation of production processes.

The modernised processing plants supply several directly connected pressure gelation machines and therefore form a central interface within production. They make a significant contribution to an efficient, future-oriented, and consistently quality-driven production environment.

The purpose of the investment is to increase the production capacity of transformer housings with an emphasis on sustainable development. With this investment, we are optimizing the flow of products through individual production phases and raising the production process to a new, higher level in terms of the quality of corrosion protection for transformer housings. The investment includes the construction of two production halls, a sandblasting and painting chamber, a paint mixer, bridge cranes, a computer-controlled automated modular warehouse for the distribution of stick material, a compressor, a waste solvent distillation unit, and other equipment. As part of the operation, Preis Sevnica will install solar power plants on both new industrial halls and most of the existing buildings, and heat pumps will also be installed in both newly built halls, although these costs are not included in the eligible costs.  With this new investment, we will achieve goals such as improved energy and material efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and increased added value per employee.

Total project value: EUR 6,556,355.45

Amount of eligible costs: EUR 5,855,696.90

Amount of co-financing: EUR 819,279.50

Project duration: September 2024 – June 2026

The project was awarded a subsidy under the Public Call for Proposals for the Promotion of Large Investments for Greater Productivity and Competitiveness in the Republic of Slovenia September 2024 (JR INVEST September 2024 – NOO).

The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the Recovery and Resilience Facility under budget item 221475 – C3K9IC Promotion of investments under the ZSInv for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth NOO – MGRT.

I was born and raised in Pernitz in the Piesting Valley – the very place where PREIS Group’s head office is located today. The paths I used to take to school as a child now lead me to the office.
